As a fellow marathoner I really enjoyed this, and it brought up something I love about running. In today's life hack/shortcut world, the only way to train is to bank the miles. And the only way to bank the miles is to...bank the miles. I love that purity of purpose.
Do you have any articles that speak to what you said about running to helping you to think more clearly? Do you think running is different and helps with thinking, and if you don't run, do you find your thoughts become more easily scrambled?
Love that you did this, Brian. I grew up with the Comrades as one of *the* events on the sporting calendar. In the 80s it was dominated by Bruce Fordyce, who if memory serves won it eight consecutive times and nine times overall. He remains a legend.
