WHAT’S WORKING  /  FRONT OFFICE SPORTS

Zero to $4 million

How Front Office Sports built an events business that draws consumer brands

OVERVIEW

COMPANY

Front Office Sports

THE CHALLENGE

Standing out on a crowded events circuit and an even more crowded sports calendar

THE CHANGE

An invite-only Hamptons gathering built as an experience, with its venue locked in for multiple years

THE TAKEAWAY

Know what each event is for, and expect events to test whether your brand matters

Events are the engine that drive B2B media, as reflected in the fact that events account for about 50% of Adweek’s revenue and about 35% of Skift’s business. B2B media also pulls from an established ecosystem that has operated in this way for decades – no company is asked to break the wheel to draw in sponsors for their events.

The prospect of getting consumer brands such as McDonald’s or Nike to sponsor events, however, is a different proposition.
